FALSE CLAIM:

Sided with big corporations and received $100,000s from anti-environment groups and voted against clean energy and instead for dirty coal.

TRUTH:

Knute broke with his party to move Oregon off coal energy and onto clean, renewable sources. Climate change is real, and Knute wants Oregon to be a leader in new energy sources.

Knute voted against Kate Brown’s $1.4B sales tax on energy that would have hurt low and middle income Oregonians and given handouts to special interests. Read more about his opposition in his op-ed.

FALSE CLAIM:

Knute voted against important protections for our air, water and land.

TRUTH:

Knute has supported new protections for scenic waterways and fish and wildlife corridors, restoration of the iconic Mirror Pond, and a ban on toxic chemicals in children’s products, which often get dumped in our waterways. He also outlined a plan to improve Oregon’s water infrastructure and invest in efficiency projects to reduce the amount of water used. He broke with his party to ban coal and has supported the development of renewable energy sources.

He voted against unproven programs that drive up the cost of gas for Oregonians and expensive diesel regulations that would have crippled rural farmers and ranchers.
