FALSE CLAIM:

Knute voted to cut services for kids, women, and seniors.

TRUTH:

As a doctor, Knute understands that health care is a necessity, not a luxury.

Knute voted against a sales tax on health insurance premiums that would have driven up costs for students and small businesses – but exempted large corporations and unions. Instead, he proposed an alternative plan that not only would have fully funded essential health services, but would have distributed the cost fairly and laid the groundwork for a permanent funding solution for Medicaid. Further, he supports the Medicaid expansion, and he even stood up to his own party leadership in D.C. by opposing the proposed GOP health care plan that would have cut Medicaid for thousands of Oregonians.

FALSE CLAIM:

Knute took money from pharmaceutical companies and voted against reducing the costs of expensive drugs.

TRUTH:

Kate Brown has taken thousands from pharmaceutical companies. And Knute voted for legislation to force drug companies to reveal how they set the price of their drugs and even introduced amendments to allow the Attorney General to crack down on drug companies that manipulate prices. He voted against a bill in the legislature that was so poorly written, and potentially dangerous for consumers, even his Democrat colleagues wouldn’t pass the bill.
